Locomotives Tobruk
The Tobruk (Ln 372 1-2-3) were armored diesel locomotives built by OM using the same bogies, gearboxes and engines of the ALn 772. They were destined for the Libyan-Egyptian front for towing military trains (hence their nickname " Tobruk ”), but 3 of the 4 locomotives never reached the front. They were then acquired by the FS and registered as Ln 372, and were immediately put up for sale. Two of them were purchased by the FPs, while the third unit made demonstration runs on other railways under concession, before being purchased too. They were used on the Ferrara-Codigoro towing light freight trains until 2001. Currently, only one of the 3 units survives in the former Ferrara Porta Reno DL (today Bivio Rivana) and will be preserved as a rolling stock of historical interest.
