Tobruk
The locomotives were ordered in 4 units from the Officine Meccaniche in Milan for use on an Egyptian line that fell into Italian hands during the North African campaign; however the English reconquest of the region rendered useless the 3 examples built in the meantime, which came to the FS after the war.
Two units were sold to the Po Valley Railways for use on the Ferrara-Codigoro line; the third unit, initially used by SNFT, joined the sisters ten years later.
They were withdrawn from service in the late 1980s.
These were diesel locomotives with a two-part body and central trunk; they developed a total power of 228 kW and a maximum speed of 70 km/h, sufficient for the limited needs of the Ferrara-Codigoro line.
The original project envisaged an armored case, with a double sheet steel wall with a cavity filled with sand, however this feature was renounced once the project for use in the war theater faded away.
