Iveco Turbo 330
The Iveco 330 was a heavy truck from Iveco built from 1979. It was the direct derivative of the Fiat 300. The cabin was also the basis for the subsequent evolution of the Iveco T series. The chassis was very robust and suitable for the heavy range from 400 to 720 quintals. The 330 was the first European quarry and construction site truck with an 8-cylinder engine, 17,174 cm³ with a power output from 260 to 310 kW (352 - 420 HP).
Given the weight legislation in force in other European countries, the market for the "330" was almost entirely Italian. It was also produced in factories in South America - Argentina and Brazil. In France, for example, the "330" could not exceed 260 quintals of Total Ground Weight (GVW).
The 33 t 3-axle 6x4 and 40 t 4-axle 8x4 models were distinguishable by the light bar on the cab roof when the vehicle was in motion. The 330 was developed for off-road use with total weights from 330 to 720 quintals. The cab roof was strengthened. Many vehicles reached 2 million km of mileage and many others were used for concrete mixer use with 9/10 m³ or 15 m³ capacity.
Given the considerable rigidity of the frame it was often used as a base for crane vehicles.
With the 8-cylinder Fiat 8280 engine model with 17,174 cm³ torques of 2,050 Nm were achieved at only 1,100 rpm. The 330 was also used as an articulated lorry and 6x4, 6x6 and 8x4.
