Hanjin Shipping was a South Korean company active in the transport and shipping sector.
As the Hanjin group's investments diversified, the management felt the need to reorganize the conglomerate by opening the subsidiary Hanjin Container Lines Ltd. in 1977, which was later renamed to its current name Hanjin Shipping.
In 1997, Hanjin also acquired German Senator Lines, forming Hanjin-Senator, which ceased operations in 2009 following the complete incorporation of Senator, which became a subsidiary of Hanjin.
In 2016, it filed for bankruptcy with 85 vessels stranded outside ports.
The South Korean government declared an extraordinary loan worth 90 million euros. The company however went bankrupt the following year.
